Paluma hosts a variety of events each year featuring music, arts, sport and local history. These include weekly History Displays and annual events such as the Bush Dance, Paluma Push and Ephemera in the Mist.

We also welcome expressions of interest from anyone wishing to host an event up in the mist. Event venues available for booking include the Community Hall, the Paluma Environmental Education Centre, and Gumburu Catholic Education Centre.  See the links for more information.

Rainforest Plant Identification Short Course 2019

ENROLMENTS OPEN

Presented by the Australian Tropical Herbarium and the Wet Tropics Management Authority, our annual plant identification short courses will be held at James Cook University Cairns Campus on the weekend after Cairns Show (Saturday 20 – Monday 22 July) and in the beautiful mountain village of Paluma, about 60 km N of Townsville (Friday 6 December – Sunday 8 December).

These courses are targetted at the interested layperson, and will be of interest to:

        • rangers
        • school science teachers
        • anyone with an interest in tropical Australia’s incredible biodiversity
