Anthuriums

Anthuriums are well suited to many Paluma gardens with damp shady areas that preferred by this epiphytic plant originally from South America.

There is a particularly strange affliction amongst some Paluma gardeners. It’s a common but very serious condition known locally as ‘Anthurium Disease’.

This condition presents as an obsession with growing Anthurium plants of all shapes, sizes and colours. It involves driving hundreds of miles for that rare and elusive Anthurium that is a must for the collection. It involves long conversations with your neighbours about seed germination, fertilisers, plant swapping and recipes for the best potting mix.

Anthurium Disease is very contagious. It spreads very easily and in its wake it leaves very happy, contented, albeit slightly obsessive gardeners, with smiles on their faces and dirt on their hands.
