The Ulysses butterfly is just one of several large and beautiful butterflies that can be seen around Paluma. Other iconic butterflies or moths include the Cairns Birdwing and the Hercules Moth. Rhynocerous beetles and jewel beetles are also a common sight beneath street lights, while giant stick insects can be found around local gardens as well as along the tracks.
