What a Beautiful Baby
During the wet season my leafy garden at Paluma is a haven for baby brown tree snakes. The y are very common, often found basking on the broad leaves of bromeliads and other foliage. This specimen was only about 30 cm in length and probably quite young. Brown tree snakes lay clutches of 4 to 12 eggs up to twice a year. That's a lot of snakes! The distinctive large doll-eyes are unmistakeable on this specimen. These snakes are nocturnal and older (larger) specimens love hanging about in my laundry - a good excuse for avoiding housework.

Local Legends
One of my favourite photos of two of our local legends and esteemed Elders - Roy Mackay and Colwyn Campbell. This photo was taken in 2018 during a wonderful afternoon I spent with Roy and Colwyn going through Roy's impressive library and his amazing collection of artefacts from his life's work in PNG. Truly inspiring ! Roy sadly passed away after his 90th birthday and Colwyn now resides with family in Cairns. Both remain in our thoughts and are fondly remembered by Paluma and district residents - the people who made our village what it is today !
